All facilities being provided in Jagananna colonies: Collector

Collector AS Dinesh Kumar said that all needed facilities were being provided to the Jagananna colonies and Housing Day is being conducted every week to monitor the construction process. Collector Dinesh Kumar inspected the Jagananna layout in Darshi mandal. He also inspected various development works in the mandal.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the construction of houses in the Jagananna colonies with the assistance provided by the government is being carried out. In addition to Rs 1.80 lakh given by the government for the construction of houses to the beneficiaries, if the beneficiaries are members of self-help societies, another Rs 35,000 would be given to the SC and the ST beneficiaries.

The Collector said that the government is depositing the money bills for the construction of houses immediately in the accounts of the beneficiaries. Every week special priority is given in the name of “Housing Day” to monitor the completion of the houses expeditiously. He explained that the government is providing all the basic facilities in the layouts for the quick completion of the house construction. Dinesh Kumar said that the government would also consider the matter of building the houses in a specific budget for those who could not build them by themselves.

Later the Collector visited the government high school, junior college, and degree college and inspected the works being carried out under the ‘Nadu-Nedu’ programme. He directed the officials not to compromise on the quality of the works and instructed them to ensure that the works are carried out expeditiously.

The Collector directed that necessary benches should be provided for the students and drinking water facility should be improved. The Collector sat with the students in the classroom for a while and observed the way the teachers were teaching the students of class 6.

The Collector noticed cooking a mid-day meal near the toilet and expressed anger over the officials concerned. He ordered them to change the place of cooking. The Collector also inspected the Anganwadi centre on the same premises.

Dinesh Kumar also inspected Darshi 4 secretariat and inquired about the services being provided by the secretariat. MPDO apprised the Collector that salaries had not been paid for two months to the staff due to technical problems and the Collector assured them to resolve the issues by speaking to the officials concerned. Housing PD Pariah, MEPMA PD Ravi Kumar, RDO Sandip Kumar and MPDO Kusuma Kumar were among those who accompanied the Collector.
