YSR Urban Health Centre opens

Mayor Kavati Shiva Manohar Naidu, along with MLAs Maddali Giridhar and Mustafa, inaugurated the YSR Urban Health Centre near Nallacheruvu highway in the 14th division on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the government was constructing 560 Urban Health Centres across the State keeping in mind public healthcare. Out of the 560 Urban Health Centres, 16 are coming up in Guntur city, he said.

The Mayor said that some UHCs had already been completed and started functioning. The government has allocated Rs 95 lakh to Rs.1 crore for the construction of each UHC and Rs 10 lakh has been sanctioned to carry out repairs of each of the 10 existing health centres in the city.

The Mayor said that the State government was allocating more funds to the education and medical sectors and working hard for the healthcare of the poor and middle-class people.

The Mayor asserted that the UHCs would conduct diagnostic tests and provide needed treatment to the patients, adding that the UHC which was inaugurated on Friday would cater to the medical needs of denizens of the Nallacheruvu area, which mostly the poor life.

“It has been a long-standing wish of the local people that a health centre should be set up in the area. The newly established Urban Health Centre will be very useful for the local people. Except for surgeries, all other medical treatment will be available at the UHC,” he said.

MLA Mustafa said that recruitment of doctors and medical staff were being carried out for the UHCs. He said that 10 beds were made available and 38 medical tests were conducted at the centre. MLA Giridhar said that the UHCs were being constructed with all modern facilities and appealed to the people to utilise them.

Corporators Vemula Jyoti Padmaja, Nimmala Venkata Ramana, Yatala Ravi Kumar, Telukuntla Hanumayamma Yogeswara Rao, YSRCP State joint secretary Sheikh Ghulam Rasool and Medical and Health officials were present.
