All-party action committee stages protest

A massive protest was staged at Kataram in the district in support of the demand that the TSRTC bus station land should be protected from the clutches of encroachers.

An action committee comprising all political parties took out a rally and later staged a massive protest at the bus station. All-party leaders alleged that some vested interests were trying to grab the land of the bus station which has been existing for the last 40 years. The action committee comprising TRS, BJP, Congress, two Communist parties and BSP led the agitation.

The MPTC members, sarpanches and the youth took part in the protest in large numbers. The leaders and the activists of the political parties staged a sit-in on the national highway. The leaders demanded that the Tahsildar give an assurance that the district administration would protect the land.

Kataram sub-inspector Srinivas made it plain to the agitators that it was not proper on the part of them to stage a sit-in on the national highway. The all-party delegation had earlier assured the police that the agitators would not resort to a sit-in on the national highway.
