“The people of Andhra Pradesh have reposed their faith in me, believing that with my return, the State will move on a progressive path and wealth can be generated through employment opportunities,” observed Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday.
During a PowerPoint presentation at the State Secretariat on the growth rate in the State, the Chief Minister assured that he would certainly maintain the people’s trust and implement plans aimed at achieving a 15 per cent growth rate. “We have set a target of $42,000 per capita income by 2047,” he added.
Regretting the total collapse of systems over the past five years, which left the State in a state of turmoil, Naidu said that in the name of three capitals, Amaravati has been completely disregarded, while the Polavaram project, the lifeline for the people of the State, has also been neglected. The situation was so dire that even the natives of Andhra Pradesh were hesitant to invest in the State, he remarked. He further stated that the people have entrusted him with the responsibility to lead the State from destruction to development.
Making it clear that wealth generation is possible only through development, the Chief Minister said that if the State’s revenue grows, it can be utilised for welfare programmes, ultimately eliminating poverty. “This is the economic policy I strongly believe in. When I spoke about IT in 1995, people laughed at me, but today, IT has elevated people’s lives,” he said.
Pointing to the Vision 2020 he introduced, which helped Telangana become the leader in per capita income, Naidu said that Telugu are now the highest-earning community worldwide. “I am now laying the foundation for second-generation economic reforms. I also introduced the open sky policy for airports and laid the foundation stone for the Shamshabad airport,” the Chief Minister recalled.
The State Government is progressing with the Swarnandhra Vision-2047 and has set a target of becoming a $2.4 trillion economy. The Chief Minister mentioned that the growth rate has increased by 4.03 per cent compared to last year.
He added that the decline in growth rate over the past five years had severely impacted the living standards of the people.
“We are now moving forward to make Telugus the number one community in the world by implementing the ten policies outlined in the Swarnandhra Vision-2047. Zero poverty is the first policy, and P-4 is aimed at achieving this,” Naidu said. He also highlighted the pensions being provided to various beneficiaries and announced the launch of WhatsApp governance on January 18. Various corruption-free services will be offered to the people, he added.
The State has received investments worth over Rs 4 lakh crore since the TDP-led NDA came to power, the Chief Minister stated, further mentioning that Amaravati’s development is progressing well, along with the acceleration of the Polavaram project. He also announced that the Godavari and Pennar rivers will be interlinked once the Polavaram project is completed, and that the State is now focusing on making farming more profitable.
“I am also committed to improving basic amenities in the State. We are taking the Swatchandhra slogan to the people. Roads have been constructed in the past six months, and those returning to their native places for Sankranti are extremely pleased with the pothole-free roads,” Chandrababu Naidu concluded.
