YSRCP suffered another blow on Friday as its senior leader, former deputy chief minister and Health Minister Alla Kalikrishna Srinivas Nani resigned as district party president.
Alla Nani also resigned from the post of Assembly constituency in charge. In his resignation letter to the YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy, Alla Nani said that due to personal reasons, he wanted to stay away from active politics. He contested the Assembly unsuccessfully in the 2024 elections.
Alla Nani entered politics in 1990 through the Youth Congress and was considered a close associate of YS Rajasekhar Reddy. He contested unsuccessfully as a Congress candidate in 1999 from the Eluru Assembly constituency. However, he was elected from the same constituency as Congress candidate in 2004 and 2009. He quit the Congress and joined the YSRCP in 2014. He was elected to the Assembly in the 2019 elections Eluru constituency and he was given the Deputy Chief Minister Post by Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Alla Nani has been swaying away from active politics for the last few months.
