The State committee of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) has demanded that funds be allocated for the Upadhi scheme and for conducting gram sabhas across the State.
The party also demanded 100 days of employment for those holding job cards.
Furthermore, the CPM State committee has said that work should not be assigned to contractors and requested an increase in person-days to expand the scheme’s scope.
In a press release issued on Sunday, party State secretary V Srinivasa Rao stated that the State government is planning to conduct gram sabhas in all 13,326 panchayats.
During these gram sabhas, the government should ensure 100 days of employment for job card holders, he emphasised.
He also stated that this responsibility falls on the State government.
Moreover, he mentioned that the proposed gram sabhas should involve discussions with the public about the type of work to be undertaken and their priority.
He stressed that the government should implement all 29 types of works recognised by the Central government.
