Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has reiterated that Amaravati will continue to serve as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
Participating in the core committee meeting of BJP held at a hotel here on Tuesday, Rajnath Singh addressed queries regarding the ongoing controversy surrounding the capital city, Amaravati.
In response to a question posed by a BJP leader, Rajnath Singh affirmed that Amaravati would remain the capital city of AP without any ambiguity. “The BJP-led Centre recognises Amaravati as the capital city of AP, and there will be no further discussions on this matter,” he clarified. Singh also criticised the AP government for not acknowledging the Centre’s ‘Ayushmanbhava’ scheme properly, emphasizing India’s potential as a strong economic force in the years to come.
Meanwhile, speaking at a booth-level activists convention in Eluru on Tuesday, Rajnath Singh expressed confidence in Narendra Modi securing a third term as Prime Minister. He criticized the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led AP government, accusing it of fostering the land mafia, mining mafia, and liquor mafia in the state.
Singh lambasted the AP government for alleged mismanagement of funds provided by the Central government for developmental purposes, accusing it of rampant corruption.
He pledged that if the BJP were to come to power in AP, projects like the Polavaram project, highway constructions, and sea ports would be completed swiftly, creating employment opportunities. He also criticised the AP government for diverting funds allocated for the Jal Jeevan Mission to other schemes.
Encouraging BJP activists to engage with the public and promote the welfare schemes implemented by the BJP-led Central government, Singh highlighted the BJP’s commitment to corruption-free governance and various sectoral reforms. He expressed confidence in the BJP winning 370 seats independently.
Singh highlighted that over 25 crore people had been lifted out of poverty over the last decade through the implementation of various schemes. He also underscored the BJP-led Centre’s resolution of the Kashmir issue by abrogating Article 370.
The meeting saw the presence of BJP state president Daggubati Purandeswari, state general secretary Garapati Sitaramanjaneya Chowdary, national general secretary Y Satya Kumar, Somu Veerraju, Ambika Krishna, and other prominent leaders.
