Andhra Pradesh Government Adviser (Public Affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has said that the construction works of the largest statue of Dr BR Ambedkar in the heart of Vijayawada is going on at a brisk pace. The 125-foot statue is a tribute to Ambedkar. The Ambedkar Smritivanam works were inspected by Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Social Welfare Minister and Statue Construction Committee Chairman Merugu Nagarjuna and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said that the name of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would be remembered forever with the installation of the largest statue of Ambedkar in the country. He praised Ambedkar for taking bold steps towards equality in India. “Ambedkar is the person behind democratic governance and the thought has created a healthy environment today. He was able to remove inequalities,” he added.
He said that apart from making a proposal to set up the biggest statue as a memorial to the great man, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy also put it into action. It is commendable that the Ambedkar Smritivanam works that were started during the Covid pandemic times were going on briskly this year. The Smritivanam will be completed soon and dedicated to the country this year, he added.
Minister Merugu Nagarjuna said that the largest statue of Ambedkar in the country would be dedicated to the nation by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy very soon. Dr BR Ambedkar statue is going to be a great historical construction in the country. The decision taken by CM Jagan with great ambition would be written in history. He said that the intention of the government was to ensure that the great leader was remembered forever. He thanked the Chief Minister for spending more than Rs 400 crore for the statue.
MLA Rakshana Nidhi, MLC Lella Appireddy, MP Nandigam Suresh, Director of Social Welfare Department Vijaya Krishnan, public representatives and officials were present.
