Ambedkar statue to be inaugurated on Jan 20

Special Chief Secretary (Municipal and Urban Development) Sri Lakshmi revealed that the 125-foot-high Dr BR Ambedkar statue and Smritivanam will be unveiled on January 20 by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The special chief secretary inspected the ongoing works of 125 feet Dr Ambedkar statue and Smritivanam at Swaraj Maidan on Friday. She instructed the officials and the KCP representatives to speed up the work and ensure that the construction work is completed on time.
Speaking to the media persons, Sri Lakshmi said that the construction of the statue of BR Ambedkar has been completed. Now the main focus is on the completion of the work being done in the premises around the statue. It has been revealed that the works will be completed quickly and prepared for the opening ceremony on January 20.
She said that the works of the memorial museum, mini theatre, convention center, canteen etc. will be completed as per the target. It has been revealed that beautification works are being carried out following the plans so that the entire premises of Smritivanam will be filled with greenery. The walkway will be on par with KBR National Park in Hyderabad. Similarly, Dr BR Ambedkar statue and Smritivanam in Vijayawada are being decorated with greenery. Special Chief Secretary Sreelakshmi said that the works of the fountain have already been completed.
