Declaring that social friction is a must for changing society, the Indian Constitution’s architect, Dr BR Ambedkar’s, grandson Prakash Ambedkar said that Babasaheb wanted to make Hyderabad India’s second capital. “Ambedkar said that if the country faces an attack another capital may be needed and had said that Hyderabad is suitable to be made the country’s second capital. Ambedkar’s idea to make Hyderabad the country’s second capital has not materialised so far,” Prakash said.

He unveiled Ambedkar’s statue near the Tank Bund along with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday and addressed the public meeting held there.

He said KCR has ushered in a new era with the unveiling of Dr Ambedkar’s huge statue. Prakash said that Ambedkar worked tirelessly for changing Indian society and that the real tribute to Ambedkar is to implement his ideals.

He said that Ambedkar wanted the people to be happy and educated and that he faced many conflicts during his time.

Prakash said that the Dalit Bandhu scheme is a great scheme and that Ambedkar tried hard to help the downtrodden masses.

He said that KCR has chosen such a path and is leading Telangana towards development. The CMs of other states should also come forward to follow this path. “KCR has blazed a new path of development,” he said. He said that after Vajpayee, the country had no national leader. Regional parties have an opportunity to produce national leaders, Prakash opined. He said Ambedkar wanted politics to be beyond ethnicity and dharma. Prakash said that Telangana was created as per the Constitution written by Ambedkar and that Potti Sriramulu had sacrificed his life for creating the state of Andhra Pradesh. He said that Ambedkar was moved by the martyrdom of Potti Sriramulu.

Prakash said that Ambedkar thought that it is better to have small States and so he had framed a clear policy for creating states. Many public movements were launched for Telangana state too. Ambedkar supported the proposal to create small states, he said.
Prakash said that Ambedkar had a clear economic policy. “He wrote a research paper in 1923 on the problem of the Rupee. Ambedkar observed how the British were looting India and he stressed the necessity for strengthening the Rupee,” Prakash said. Prakash said that KCR has been trying to fight financial vulnerability. “I thank KCR for launching the Dalit Bandhu scheme. KCR is implementing the ideals of Ambedkar. Ambedkar had tried hard to eradicate untouchability.
