Revenue, Registration and Stamps Minister Anagani Satya Prasad has criticised former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for allegedly favouring criminals while neglecting the concerns of marginalised communities. Addressing a press conference at the TDP central office on Tuesday, he termed Jagan’s recent visit to prison a mere façade, comparing it to his previous “fake” outreach programmes for political gain.
Satya Prasad took a jibe at Jagan, calling him a “former jailbird” who was now backing another individual recently incarcerated for alleged misconduct. He alleged that while Jagan had not reached out to Dalit families affected by violence, he was quick to support those involved in criminal activities.
Referring to the situation in Gannavaram, the minister claimed that peace prevailed in the region until local MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi joined the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). He accused the YSRCP of fostering a culture of rowdyism, leading to increased violence and intimidation.
Satya Prasad further alleged that Vamsi was behind the arson attack on TDP offices and the kidnapping of a Dalit individual to force a false statement. Expressing disbelief over Jagan’s defence of Vamsi, he asserted that only the former Chief Minister could justify such actions. He stressed that those responsible for past offences must be held accountable, adding that the people of Gannavaram were regretting their decision to support the YSRCP.
The minister warned that complaints regarding the government’s misconduct had been ongoing for eight months. He urged Jagan Mohan Reddy to take cognisance of the grievances and reflect on the impact of his administration’s actions.
