Anganwadi workers stage protests for 6th consecutive day

The agitation of Anganwadi workers and helpers entered 6th day on Sunday and they organized dharnas at various places demanding that the government concede their legitimate demands.
A group of Anganwadi workers and helpers staged a protest at Gundugolanu village in Bhimadole mandal on Sunday. The agitating Anganwadi workers and helpers squatted on the road in protest.
The Anganwadi workers and helpers also protested against the breaking open of some Anganwadi centres and handing over them to the secretariat staff. The Anganwadi workers are demanding the government to hike their salary to Rs 26,000, Rs 5 lakh retirement benefit, half of the salary should be paid as pension, gratuity should be paid as per the Supreme Court guidelines, mini-centres should be converted as main centres, budget should be hiked to the ICDS and the FRS app should be revoked.
In Kurnool, the Anganwadi workers and helpers staged a dharna demanding the government to concede their demands. Speaking on the occasion, Anganwadi workers and helpers Union State General Secretary Lalita lamented that the government refused to concede their demands during the negotiations.  She warned of intensifying the stir if the government did not concede their demands.
Anganwadi workers and helpers Union State leader Rukmini took strong exception to handing over Anganwadi centres to secretariat staff to run them. The agitating Anganwadi workers and helpers organised similar dharnas at various places across the state.
