Andhra Pradesh is poised to become a global investment hub, with a renewed focus on maritime, logistics, and infrastructure development, said Minister for Roads, Buildings, Investments, and Infrastructure, BC Janardhan Reddy. Speaking at a conference on Maritime, Logistics & Infrastructure Development in Vijayawada on Tuesday, he underscored the state’s efforts to enhance its logistics and port capabilities.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the logistics sector, the minister pointed out that reducing logistics costs to single digits in GDP by 2030 is a key objective of the 2022 National Logistics Policy. With a coastline of 1,053 kilometres, Andhra Pradesh is leveraging its maritime potential to establish itself as India’s leading maritime gateway. He announced that under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership, the state has introduced a Maritime Policy for 2024-29 to drive this transformation.
Minister Reddy expressed confidence that one of the world’s top 20 ports could soon be located in Andhra Pradesh. The 6th LEADS (Logistics Ease Across Different States) Index for 2024 has already recognized the state as a “Fast Mover” in the logistics sector, further reinforcing its growth trajectory.
Stressing the need for collaboration between the government, industries, and investors, he urged stakeholders to tap into the vast opportunities in logistics and maritime infrastructure. He also outlined plans to develop Greenfield and Brownfield ports and enhance coastal tourism, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a prime destination for infrastructure investments in the coming years.
