Must read

The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Council sessions are set to commence on Monday. Governor S Abdul Nazeer will deliver the customary address to a joint session of the Legislative Council and Assembly on the same day.
The session will primarily focus on presenting the vote on account budget, welfare programmes, and industrial development.
According to reports, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to conduct the Assembly budget session for three days. The first day of the Assembly will kick off with Governor Nazeer’s address. The Jagan government plans to introduce the vote on account budget on the first day itself. The discussion on the interim budget is scheduled for February 6 and 7, during which the government will also present several important amendments to various bills. Before the commencement of the Assembly, CM Jagan will chair the AP Cabinet meeting on February 5, and the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) will decide the agenda for the current budget session after the Cabinet meeting.
The budget session of the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly is expected to be the last session of the assembly in its present term before going to polls in April. CM Jagan aims to make the most of this final assembly session by highlighting the achievements of his government over the last five years and announcing additional welfare schemes to attract voters ahead of the assembly elections. Governor S Abdul Nazeer’s address to the joint session of the assembly and legislative council on the first day is anticipated to reflect the government’s welfare agenda and achievements in the last five years. As it is only a vote on account budget with not many bills to be passed, the session is expected to be relatively short.
On the other hand, the opposition TDP is gearing up to counter the YSRC during the last and final assembly sessions starting on Monday. The TDLP meeting on Sunday, chaired by TDP chief Chandrababu at his residence, included discussions with party MLAs, MLCs, and important leaders. The strategy to be followed was primarily discussed during the budget meetings of the Assembly. Telugu Desam plans to insist on discussions on all ten issues in the meetings, including the debt-ridden state, allotment of thousands of acres to benami of government officials in the name of solar power projects, inappropriate subsidies, and other pertinent issues.
Chandrababu directed the leaders to address the issue of electricity charges burden on consumers, diversion of funds of local bodies, and non-filling of backlog posts in the assembly. TDLP also discussed the state government’s failure to hand over the required land for the Visakha railway zone, the failure to declare drought zones, and the government’s negligence in supporting farmers affected by Cyclone Michaung.
Chandrababu shared the summary of the meeting with Pawan Kalyan, and with the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections for three seats, there were discussions on the issue of fielding a candidate.
