The budget session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly will be held from the second week of March after the completion of the two-day Andhra Pradesh Global Investors Summit scheduled on March 3 and 4 in Visakhapatnam.

According to sources, the Budget session is likely to be held for at least 25 working days this time. This year’s budget for 2023-24 is likely to cross Rs 2.75 lakh crore and may touch Rs 3 lakh crore as this would be a crucial budget for the government as the next budget in 2024-25 will be uncertain as the parties will be busy with the general elections.

Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy and the Finance department officials are likely to allocate more funds for the welfare sectors as per the instructions of the CM, as the focus will be more on the Navaratnalu schemes of the ruling party besides completing the housing scheme of 30 lakh houses for the poor across the state in Jagananna colonies with the funds allocated in the current budget.

Apart from the housing for the poor, the CM is very keen on constructing medical colleges, village clinics, and cold storage attached to the Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBK) with the funds allocated in the new budget. The finance department is working to give final shape to the budget and the CM is said to be going through allocations made to every sector and every department before giving a final nod.
