AP cab drivers in Hyderabad seek Lokesh’s help over life tax

Must read

AP cab drivers in Hyderabad brought their grievances to IT Minister Nara Lokesh during a Praja Darbar session on Tuesday. They submitted a representation seeking his intervention to resolve a pressing issue: the Telangana government’s demand for life tax payment on their vehicles, marking the completion of Hyderabad’s 10 years as the joint capital.
The drivers highlighted that they had already paid life tax when the states were unified and argued that imposing it again would create severe financial hardship. They also complained about alleged harsh treatment of Andhra Pradesh vehicles by local authorities in Hyderabad. With the upcoming meeting between the CMs of both states scheduled for July 6, the drivers appealed for a resolution to their concerns and requested an extension to continue operating their vehicles in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, at the Praja Darbar, Minister Lokesh also addressed concerns from leaders of teacher unions regarding stalled transfer orders due to the Election Code. Lokesh assured them that teacher transfers would be conducted transparently and according to regulations, emphasising his commitment to upholding integrity in the process.
The Praja Darbar, which Lokesh initiated to engage directly with constituents, has garnered significant participation from people across the state, highlighting various issues for his attention. Such has been the response that MLAs from the ruling party are now considering organising similar sessions in their respective Assembly segments.
