The Andhra Pradesh government is stepping up efforts to expand its ‘Zero Poverty – P4’ initiative, a programme aimed at eradicating poverty. As part of the expansion, a State-Level Society will be established, with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as Chairperson and the Deputy Chief Minister as Vice Chairperson. The team will comprise a CEO, Director, Call Centre, Tech Team, Programme Team and Operational Wing Teams to ensure the smooth implementation of the initiative.
At the district level, the Minister will act as Chairperson of the District Chapter. For constituency chapters, the respective MLA will serve as Chairperson, while at the village or ward level, Panchayat Secretaries and Ward Administrative Secretaries will lead their respective Secretariat Chapters.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu chaired a review meeting at the Secretariat to assess the formation of the State-Level Society and the ongoing progress of the P4 programme.
He directed all District Collectors, Ministers and MLAs to identify Margdarsis (mentors/philanthropists) and ensure they adopt Bangaru Kutumbalu (Golden Families), the key focus of the initiative.
Emphasising transparency, CM Naidu recommended that detailed information, including the names of donors, donation amounts, and the remaining needs of the Bangaru Families, be made publicly available on the P4 website. He said this would promote greater trust and accountability within the programme.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the registration process for both Margdarsis and Bangaru Families is already underway. The government aims to facilitate the adoption of five lakh Bangaru Families by 15 August. Organisations such as Milaap, DonateKart and Rang De have partnered with the government to support the P4 initiative.
The P4 platform enables donors to select families, mandals, or villages they wish to support and contribute funds directly via the online platform. Donors may adopt individual families or larger areas based on their preferences. The registration process for both donors and families is expected to be completed by August, with the programme set to become fully operational by then.
CM Naidu also directed officials to publish an annual progress report by the next Ugadi, highlighting the impact of the P4 initiative in its first year.
