‘AP plans free power to farmers for 25 years’

Minister for Energy Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy has said that AP is the only State in the country that is committed to giving free power to the farm sector for nine hours during the daytime itself for the next 25 years. He further said that the APTRANSCO has taken measures to reduce transmission losses to single digits to the tune of 2.8 per cent.

Addressing a review meeting, the minister said that high-level conference involving all the wings of employees of AP Power utilities such as APGENCO, APTRANSCO, AP DISCOMS, NREDCAP and APSECM, etc, on 28th December 2022 at Vijayawada by AP Central Power Distribution Company Limited (APCPDCL).

Minister Peddireddi appreciated the efforts of AP power utilities that helped the state to win 1st prize in the prestigious National Energy Conservation Awards-2022 received by AP State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) from the President of India. He further appreciated that APSECM has improved its score on State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) from 50.5 points in 2020 to 77.5 points in 2022 with an improvement of around 53 percent in the area of energy efficiency.
