A large number of people from the State are increasingly seeking employment opportunities abroad, drawn by the promise of better prospects. Regrettably, some who migrate to Gulf countries find themselves ensnared by unscrupulous agents, encountering challenges due to a lack of awareness.
In response to this issue, the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS) has embarked on a mission to raise awareness in migration-prone regions, in line with the directives of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Under the able guidance of Venkat S Medapati, President of APNRTS, the society, in collaboration with District Collectors, Police, Revenue, and District Administration Officials, conducted an enlightening awareness program on safe migration for prospective migrants planning to go abroad. This event took place on Thursday in Narsapuram, West Godavari district.
During the programme, DSP G Paideshawar Rao underscored the prevalence of unscrupulous agents exploiting individuals in pursuit of overseas employment. He highlighted the lack of sufficient information and support faced by many potential migrants, leading to challenging situations abroad. Commending APNRTS’s Safe Migration Awareness Campaign, he acknowledged the initiative’s role in equipping potential migrants with the necessary knowledge and resources to make informed decisions.
CI K Govind Rao (Rural) issued a cautionary note against illegal migration, particularly in rural areas. He urged potential migrants to exercise caution against false promises of lucrative employment abroad and advised seeking guidance from government-authorized recruiting agencies such as APNRTS. These agencies, he emphasized, provide comprehensive assistance to those seeking employment overseas. Stressing the significance of safe and legal migration procedures, he encouraged individuals to contact APNRTS for accurate information and guidance, actively participating in awareness meetings to gain valuable insights for informed decision-making about traveling abroad.
CI Srinivas (Urban) emphasised the importance of understanding foreign laws, cultures, and traditions before embarking on journeys abroad. He advised prospective migrants to conduct thorough research, familiarizing themselves with local customs and regulations.
Individuals planning to go abroad or currently residing overseas can avail themselves of assistance by contacting APNRTS through their 24/7 helpline numbers: 0863 2340678 or WhatsApp: 85000 27678. The society remains committed to providing support and guidance to ensure safe and informed migration practices.
