Aruna raises concern over spike in student suicide cases

Expressing deep concern over the rising number of student suicides, Lok Sabha member DK Aruna directly questioned the government whether it would take measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents. In the past two days, two student suicides had been reported in the region. On Wednesday, Class 10 student Neeraj died after jumping from a private school building in Shadnagar. A day earlier, another Class 10 student, Aaradhya, was found dead by suicide at Balanagar Gurukul, leaving the community in shock. Aruna expressed her grief over these incidents and immediately spoke to officials concerned to gather details. Disturbed by the pattern of student deaths, she raised suspicions about the conditions in government hostels and schools. She also spoke with District Superintendent of Police Janaki over the phone, urging a thorough investigation into the reasons behind these tragedies. Aruna criticised the government, stating that student suicides are a direct result of a lack of proper surveillance and supervision in hostels and educational institutions. She blamed the Congress-led administration for its incompetence, alleging that students’ lives were at risk under their rule
