The BJP MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday demanded that the State government to come to the rescue of the farmers who suffered crop losses due to unseasonal rains and gales. Uneasonal rains wreaked havoc on standing crops in Telangana.
He demanded that the state government pay a compensation at the rate of Rs 25,000 per acre to the farmers who lost their crops.
Addressing the media here, he appealed to the Congress government in the state not to cheat the farmers like former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
He wanted the government to come to the rescue of the Sircilla district farmers who raised crops borrowing funds from others. When the crops were ready for harvesting, the rains played the spoilsport.
During the past 10 years under the BRS regime, not a single farmer was paid compensation for the crop loss.
Further, he appealed to the government to immediately waive the crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh and implement the crop insurance scheme immediately. He appealed to the government not to adopt dilly-dallying tactics in the name of elections.
He reiterated his demand to the state government asking it to come to the rescue of the farmers and assured the government that the BJP would also cooperate in this endeavour.
The unseasonal rains and hail storms left the farmers devastated in Telangana. They have been appealing to the government for succour.
