Governor and Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University, S. Abdul Nazeer, has said that entrepreneurship offers a solution to the challenges of unemployment and underemployment, playing a substantial role in India’s economic development. He said that entrepreneurship has the potential to generate employment for millions while contributing to economic diversification by opening new markets and opportunities for foreign investment.
Presiding over the 39th and 40th Convocation of the University in the University Auditorium on Tuesday, Abdul Nazeer underscored the pivotal role of entrepreneurship in fostering economic growth and self-reliance.
He highlighted the importance of the youth becoming job creators rather than job-seekers to facilitate the nation’s progress.
Furthermore, Governor Nazeer underscored the significance of the central government’s flagship initiatives, ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Startup India.’ These programs aim to bolster self-reliance in the country and cultivate a thriving startup culture, fostering a robust and inclusive environment for innovation and entrepreneurship. He proudly noted that India has now emerged as one of the world’s largest startup hubs, with startup success rates exceeding global averages.
In addition to his address, Governor Abdul Nazeer conferred degrees and medals upon the graduating students, extending his heartfelt congratulations on their academic achievements. Prior to this, the University bestowed an Honorary Doctorate upon Palagummi Sainath, a Ramon Magsaysay Awardee, and Rural Affairs Editor at The Hindu.
The Convocation commenced with Prof. P. Raja Sekhar, Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University, presenting the University’s annual report. Subsequently, Vice-Chancellor Sekhar presented Governor Abdul Nazeer with a memento on behalf of the University. Prof. K. Hemachandra Reddy, Chairman of the AP State Council of Higher Education, were also present.
