The two-day Bharat Summit is going to pass a resolution on terrorism on the second day, that is, Saturday.

The Congress Working Committee’s (CWC) permanent invitee, Gurudeep Singh Sappal, said that on the first day of the Bharat Summit, which is going on at the HICC Novotel Hotel on Friday, the nation is protesting against the terror attack in Pahalgam.

He said the CWC conducted a special meeting in New Delhi in which top Congress leaders Mallikarjuna Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and other leaders participated.

The party decided that it was not the time for celebrations, and so the Bharat Summit did not conduct cultural programmes during its inaugural session.

Gurudeep said that it is time for the nation to think about terrorism and that the Bharat Summit decided to pass
a resolution against terror.

He said the Congress had ‘fought’ against terrorism heroically and that Congress governments had ‘eradicated’ terrorism from Punjab and Assam and also from North India. Congress governments ‘controlled’ terrorism in Kashmir also, he added.

“There is no question of compromising on terrorism. We are going to organise an exhibition on terrorism at the summit,” he said.

Gurudeep said that Rahul Gandhi took the summit as a matter of prestige and that he had launched an action plan to bring all political parties on a single platform.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s programme at the Bharat Summit on Friday was postponed to Saturday due to the Centre’s decision to observe Friday as a day of mourning due to the Pahalgam incident.

Rahul Gandhi, who was supposed to come to Hyderabad on Friday to attend the Summit, went to Pahalgam. It is not known whether he will attend the programme or not on Saturday.
