Ahead of the general elections, the political scenario in Vijayawada has been witnessing rapid changes. Disappointed leaders continue to switch parties. Following the political fluctuations, YSRCP Vijayawada city president Boppana Bhava Kumar is all set to join the Opposition TDP on January 21.
Boppana Bhava Kumar was the YSRCP candidate in 2019 polls from the Vijayawada East constituency and he lost. Later, Devineni Avinash left TDP and joined YSRCP, and is now serving as party convener for Vijayawada East. Bhava Kumar is maintaining distance from the party over the recent announcement of the candidature of Devineni Avinash from the constituency.
Bhava Kumar, along with Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rama Mohana Rao and party leader Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni), met TDP national general secretary and former minister Nara Lokesh at the residence at Undavalli near Vijayawada on Wednesday. The leaders discussed many issues regarding Vijayawada city and the chances of the party in the ensuing elections.
While addressing the media, Boppana Bhava Kumar said that he would join TDP without any personal intention. “Penamaluru MLA Kolusu Partha Saradhi is my best friend. He is also joining TDP along with me on January 21,” he said.
Further, he alleged that the ruling YSRCP destroyed the State capital Amaravati. He was the first person who wanted Amaravati to be the capital, he said. Scores of farmers had handed over their fertile lands for the construction of the capital. However, they have ended up on the streets now due to the inefficiency of the State government, he said.
