‘BIS licence must for all products’

In view of the National Consumer Day celebrations, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organised an awareness programme for the Krishna district officers at Machilipatnam on Thursday.

BIS Senior Director, Head of Vijayawada MAJ Vinod and Joint Director V Sai Kumar conducted a PowerPoint presentation. Speaking on the occasion, they said that so far 21,675 products were under BIS scope. About 40,000 licences were issued to the manufacturing sector, they said. They also said that BIS had made available the licence system online for those who want to apply and added that applicants must be sanctioned licences within 30 days. “No product should be manufactured without a BIS licence.
