After the defeat in the Karnataka Assembly elections, the BJP is facing a strange situation in Telangana.
Now the main issue facing the BJP is that in case of a defeat in the Telangana Assembly elections will the victory of the BRS or the Congress prove advantageous to it?
Political observers say that the BJP may prefer the BRS to win in Telangana if the BJP cannot come to power. The Congress has won Karnataka and if it wins in Telangana too it will have a significant effect on voters in the next Lok Sabha elections.
As far as the BJP is concerned retaining power at the Centre is more important than winning the Telangana Assembly elections. The BRS is maintaining equidistance from both the BJP and the Congress.
If the BRS wins the Telangana Assembly elections and most of the seats in the Lok Sabha elections it may not support the Congress at the Centre.
If the Congress wins the Telangana Assembly elections and most of the LS seats it will be advantageous to the Congress at the Centre. In Telangana, if the BJP has no chance of coming to power and if it weakens the BRS it will help the Congress to win the Telangana Assembly elections.
The BJP never wants the Congress to come to power in any state as well as at the Centre. If the Congress wins the Telangana Assembly elections it will have an effect on South India in the Lok Sabha elections.
In case of a BRS defeat in the Telangana Assembly elections, the Congress has a better chance than the BJP of coming to power. The Congress has strong leadership and cadre network in all Assembly constituencies compared to the BJP.
If the BRS wins the Telangana Assembly polls and most LS seats in the Lok Sabha elections it will affect the Congress and the BJP as the BRS is maintaining equidistance from both the BJP and the Congress.
Keeping this in view the BJP may change its strategy in the Telangana Assembly elections. If the BJP becomes weak it will help the Congress more than the BRS. The BJP has to strengthen itself without weakening the BRS to defeat the Congress in the Telangana Assembly elections.
If the Congress and the BJP have equal strength anti-government votes will split between these two parties and it will help the BRS in the Assembly elections.
If the BJP has no chance of winning the Telangana Assembly elections it will prefer the BRS coming to power. But in politics parties change strategies depending on the situation at a given time.
Political observers are interested in knowing which party the BRS will support in case the BJP-led NDA and the Congress-led UPA fall short of a majority after the next LS elections. In these circumstances, everyone is interested in knowing the BJP’s strategy in the Telangana Assembly elections.
