Founder president of Kakani Aasaya Saadhana Samithi (KASS), Tarun Kakani, met with Andhra Pradesh BJP State president and former central minister Daggubati Purandeswari on Thursday. He asked for her assistance in restoring the statue of former minister Kakani Venakta Ratnam at Vijayawada’s Benz Circle.
The meeting took place in Purandeswari’s office in Vijayawada. Tarun Kakani explained why it’s important to have Kakani’s statue back at Benz Circle. He mentioned that once the Benz Circle Flyover is finished, the district administration has promised to reinstall Kakani Venkata Ratnam’s statue. Tarnu Kakani highlighted the contributions of Kakani Venkata Ratnam to the development of the former Krishna district.
He requested Purandeswari to consider renaming Benz Circle as Kakani’s Circle. The statue had been removed during road expansion, but due to public demand, the district administration agreed to put it back, he recalled.
