Minister for Finance T Harish Rao on Monday praised the working class for their contribution to the progress of the country. “The working class accounts for the largest chunk of the population. We are all workers,” he pointed.
Participating as the chief guest at May Day celebrations organised by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) trade union wing here, Harish Rao said, “As the sun radiates light, workers always put in a lot of blood, sweat and tears for the welfare of the society.” He conveyed the greetings to the workers on the occasion of May Day.
The Minister further said that the workers were not divided into rigid classes. The Telangana government is committed to the welfare of the workers. The government invested more effort in ensuring the welfare of the workers. The BJP-led Central government has been suppressing the democratic right of the working class. The exploitation of workers has been rampant in the BJP-ruled States, he pointed out and added that the responsibility to ensure the welfare of the workers rested on all governments.
The government in the BJP-ruled States failed to ensure the welfare of beedi workers. Though the issue was brought to the attention of the Union Minister for Finance, the Centres failed to pay attention to the welfare of the workers. The BRS government would grant Rs 6 lakh for the construction of beedi works Bhavan.
Harish Rao vowed to ensure that a 1,000-bed super-specialty hospital is constructed in Siddipet. Apart from it, the ESI dispensary would be set up for the benefit of workers. The poor used to migrate to other parts of the country for livelihood in the past. Now, the workers from other States are flooding the State for their livelihood.
BRS leaders and others were present.
