Blood donation marks NCC Day celebrations

On the successful completion of 74 years of establishment of NCC in India and on the 75th NCC Day on Sunday, the 17th Andhra Battalion of National Cadet Corps (NCC) celebrated the day with the donation of blood to save the lives of fellow citizens.

The NCC cadets from Andhra Loyola College, Syed Appalaswamy College, KBN College, and Siddhartha Mahila College donated 105 units of blood. The Blood Collection Camp was conducted by Red Cross Blood Centre, Vijayawada, and the Blood Centre of GGH, Vijayawada on the Andhra Loyola College premises.

The camp was inaugurated by the Commanding Officer of NCC Lt. Colonel Rakesh. He highlighted the services of NCC in the interest and protection of citizens and in their training.

BVS Kumar, State Co-ordinator of Red Cross Blood Centers in Andhra Pradesh thanked NCC cadets for their kind gesture in coming forward to save the lives in emergencies.
Bondada Raghavendra Rao, Chairman of Bondada Group of Companies have participated in the camp and recollecting his association with NCC in college days has donated blood today.

As a token of appreciation, Red Cross Blood Centre presented a memento to Lt. Col. Rakesh and assured that each voluntary blood donor will be issued a Commendation Certificate by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh.

Lt Col Surendran, Administration Officer of the 17th Battalion, V Seshagiri Rao, Vice Chairman of IRCS, Krishna district, Dr. Ranjitha, Blood Bank Medical Officer of GGH, Vijayawada, participated.
