The Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s (BRS) proposed party formation meeting in New Delhi on December 9 may not take place if the Election Commission does not give permission for changing the name of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to BRS.

Party sources said the meeting will be held only if the Election Commission gives its nod to change the name of TRS to BRS. It may be recalled that TRS Chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced the change in the party’s name on Dasara day.

The TRS decided to conduct this meeting to attract the attention of the people and political parties towards the BRS. KCR planned to lay a strong foundation for the BRS by conducting its first public meeting in New Delhi on a grand note.

KCR planned to gather people from northern states and asked party leaders to finalise a venue for it. He directed party leaders to examine two venues for the meeting. One is the Ramleela Maidan and the other is near New Delhi in west Uttar Pradesh.

KCR directed TRS leaders to finalise a venue that is linked by road and rail. He also planned to invite like-minded political parties and farmer leaders to the meeting.
KCR also discussed organising a car rally from Hyderabad to New Delhi (before the meeting) or from New Delhi to Hyderabad (after the meeting).

Already, the party has opened a temporary office in New Delhi for the BRS and it will be shifted to the permanent office that is being constructed in Vasanth Vihar. The delay in getting Election Commission’s nod for the name change has hit KCR’s plans to take the BRS across the nation by conducting its first public meeting in New Delhi.
