BRS failed to get rightful share of Krishna waters for TS: Bhatti

Must read

CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that there is an inordinate delay in calculating the share of Telangana in Krishna River waters even 10 years after Telangana formation.

Bhatti said the BRS government seemed to be in deep slumber. It is unpardonable that the TRS government has not been able to take up with the Centre the share of Telangana in Krishna waters, he said.

The BRS government is interested only in re-designing irrigation projects for jacking up costs, awarding contracts to contractors and getting huge kickbacks after the bills are sanctioned. BRS rulers are interested only in collecting commissions rather than providing water to the fields. Chief Minister KCR owes an explanation on his failure to get a decision about the share of Krishna waters, he said.

Addressing the media at Kondurg in Shadnagar constituency on Day-59 of his Padayatra on Sunday, Bhatti said that the construction of the Rayalaseema lift irrigation project taken up by the Andhra Pradesh government on the Krishna River at Sangameshwar would be detrimental to the interests of united Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Khammam and Hyderabad districts, the Congress leader said.

If the AP government draws three TMCs of water every day, the Krishna coastline could become a desert, he said.

Bhatti said the BRS government which has wronged the people of Rangareddy district by not constructing the Lakshmidevi Palli canal as part of the Palamuru Rangareddy uplift project has no moral right to ask for votes in the next elections.

He said that it was designed by the Congress government to provide irrigation water to Rangareddy district through the Pranahita project, but the BRS government that came to power redesigned it after naming it the Kaleshwaram Project and took Pranahita’s life.

The government, which had boasted that it would provide irrigation to revitalise the Ranga Reddy district through the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Uplift Project, was criticised for not providing a single drop of water for 10 years.

He said that the BRS government, which had said that it will not ask for votes in the next election if a reservoir is not built at Lakshmidevi Palli as part of the Palamuru Ranga Reddy lift project, has no right to ask for votes.

He called upon the people not to let the BRS rulers visit villages as they have cheated the people of Rangareddy district by not giving them irrigation water.

He said that he had to go on a padayatra as the BRS government did not deliver on promises given by Sonia Gandhi to Telangana.
