Kisan Congress Vice-President M. Kodanda Reddy said that it should be a shame on the part of the BRS government to describe the increase in land prices as development.
He said that officials and BRS leaders were selling 2,000 acres to businessmen in Keshav Pally village and taking shares of it.
Speaking to the media at the Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Kodanda said that there is a law not to sell D-Patta lands given by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. However, there is a leeway that the government has to regularise those lands if purchased by the poor, he said. In fact, the government had taken over 26 lakh acres of such land in Telangana.
The government has been handing over land to corporations by taking lands from the poor, he said. Moreover, the government has been selling D-Patta lands by taking them from the poor forcibly in Hyderabad and in return the government is giving 300 square yards of land to the same people. The government is selling the same land for Rs 100 crore per acre.
He said that they had submitted memoranda several times to the government on Dharani Portal problems, but there was no response from the government. Moreover, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao blamed the Congress in the Assembly stating that ‘the Congress is saying that it will scrap the Dharani Portal if it comes to power.’
