BRS leaders held near Gandhi Hospital

Must read

In a major development, the police arrested members of the BRS fact-finding committee, including former Deputy Chief Minister Dr Tatikonda Rajaiah, MLA Dr Kalvakuntla Sanjay, former MLA Dr Methuku Anand and Hyderabad BRS President MLA Maganti Gopinath.
The BRS leaders were stopped near Gandhi Hospital, while they were inspecting the deteriorating conditions in government hospitals. The police said that the BRS leaders were being taken to the Narayanguda Police Station.
Reacting sharply to the arrests, BRS Working President KTR condemned the police action and demanded their immediate release.
“This must be a first! Arresting members of a fact-finding committee? What exactly is this government afraid of? Is it the truth coming out? Their gross inefficiencies getting exposed?” KTR said.
He urged the government not to block the BRS committee’s inspection of hospitals, emphasizing that their findings can improve public health services.
“But your ego, ‘Mr Cheap Minister,’ is destroying Telangana.
Stop playing with people’s lives,” he added.
Earlier in the day, during a press conference at the Telangana Bhavan, BRS MLA Dr Sanjay called for an immediate health emergency in the state, citing a sharp rise in fevers and infant mortality rates.
He expressed deep concern over the neglect of public health by the Congress-led government, stating, “For the first time in 10 years, every household is worried about public health, yet the government remains indifferent.”
Dr Sanjay criticized the government for failing to inspect government hospitals and assess the growing crisis, particularly the alarming increase in infant deaths at the Gandhi Hospital.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Dr Rajaiah supported these concerns, pointing out that Telangana had once led the country in healthcare under the KCR admin. He highlighted the increase in maternal and infant mortality, vector-borne diseases and the critical shortage of medicines in government hospitals.

Dr Methuku Anand echoed these sentiments, criticizing the government’s neglect of education and healthcare, stating that both were being sidelined by the current administration.

The BRS leaders vowed to continue their fight until the government addresses these pressing issues and takes steps to improve the public healthcare system.
