BRS MLA sends sarees, bangles to defectors

Must read

BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy triggered a controversy by sending sarees and bangles to 10 Congress MLAs who defected from the BRS, along with a message, “Wear them and go around.”  His actions invited strong criticism from women leaders across the state. Women’s Finance Corporation Chairperson Bandru Shobharani condemned Padi Kaushik Reddy’s act, stating, “Telangana women are known for their fighting spirit. Padi Kaushik Reddy won his seat by using women (his wife and daughter) as shields. If he wants to send sarees and bangles, let him first send them to KCR. It’s because of defections that TRS was born.’’

Shobharani demanded action against Padi and warned that a police complaint would be filed. She urged the Women’s Commission to take suo moto notice of Padi Kaushik Reddy’s comments and call him for an inquiry. “We are requesting the Speaker to suspend him from the Assembly,” she added. Arya Vaishya Corporation Chairperson Sujata also lashed out at Padi Kaushik Reddy saying, “The time has come for him to face the consequences.’’
