BRS readying to focus on increasing vote share

Must read

The BRS considers the 2024 Lok Sabha battle as a “struggle for existence.” With the massive setback in Assembly elections, the party is gearing up to fight the Lok Sabha battle to ensure that its vote share increases.
Highly placed sources said that BRS Working President KT Rama Rao has been asking leaders to get more votes than what they got in the Assembly elections for the party.
“Get at least one vote more for the BRS than what we got in the Assembly elections. Candidates will be selected but we cannot leave the field for the Congress and the BJP to fight just because it is the Lok Sabha elections,” BRS sources said.
In 2018 there was a BRS wave but six months later during the Lok Sabha polls, the BRS lost seven LS seats. This haunted the party for five years. Now the BRS wants to make sure they get it big in the Lok Sabha. Stating that it is too early to decide, BRS sources said that if the party faces a setback in the Lok Sabha elections too, then it will be almost doomsday for the regional party which has ambitions to go national. The BJP significantly increased its vote share than in 2018 and there is considerable hope for the saffron party. However, the BRS lost by a mere 2% vote share in 2023, even though it lost significantly compared to 2018.
Increasing the vote share is the top priority for the pink party now. BRS sources said that they obviously want to win all LS seats in TS, barring Hyderabad which is usually won by our friendly party AIMIM.
“We have strength in the Legislative Council and in the GHMC. If we make our case strong in the LS elections, then we can be the opposition in the true sense. Moreover, the Congress will try hard to make a dent in the GHMC area Lok Sabha constituencies as they are held by the BRS. We will try to keep our strength intact and improve our vote share,” BRS sources said.
