KCR keeps options open

At a time when all major political parties at the national level are advocating that all opposition parties should join hands with the Congress to prevent the BJP from coming to power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, BRS President and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was silent on this issue.

But it appears that KCR kept his options open on the issue and a decision will be taken depending on the results of Telangana Assembly elections. In the Telangana Assembly elections, there will be no question of BRS joining hands with the Congress. KCR is very much confident on a hattrick victory in the coming Assembly elections. But he wants to know the real strength of the BJP in Telangana.

After winning in the Assembly elections, KCR may take the final decision on joining hands with the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections depending on the Congress and the BJP winning seats in the Assembly elections. If the BJP wins good number of Assembly seats, then KCR may think of joining hands with the Congress along with other political parties at the national level to prevent the BJP from coming to power.

Though KCR says that the BJP and the Congress are his political enemies, at present his first political rival is the BJP.

In the past also, KCR had an alliance with the TDP and the Congress also. KCR decides political strategy depending on the political situation at that time. He is not criticising the Congress with harsh words like in the past and praised the former Congress prime minister Manmohan Singh on the floor of the Assembly recently, creating doubts in the political circles about his political strategy in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

After the BJP has become his main political rival, KCR feels that the Congress is not an untouchable party to achieve his target at the national level. Congress MP Komatireddy Venkata Reddy comments on the BRS and the Congress alliance led to a row between the Congress and the BRS leaders. The leaders of both parties condemned Komatireddy’s comments.

Though local Congress leaders oppose ties with the BRS, if the high command takes a decision, they should follow it. The Congress is away from power in the state and at the Centre also since the last two Assembly and Lok Sabha elections respectively. Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra created some confidence in the Congress circles on winning a good number of seats in the coming general elections. At the same time the Congress high command knows that they cannot come to power on their own and with the support of opposition parties, they might have a chance. Under the circumstances, if the Congress once again fails in the state in coming to power the Congress high command definitely would look towards the BRS in the Lok Sabha elections to defeat the BJP.
