Telugu Desam party leader and former deputy Speaker of Legislative Assembly Mandali Buddha Prasad visited the breached bund of Gunderu stream at Acchapalem village in Ghantasala mandal on Wednesday and interacted with the farmers.
Buddha Prasad, along with other TDP leaders, visited the breached bund and saw the damaged crops. The farmers told him that water gushed into their fields due to breach of the bund.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Buddha Prasad said that he would take the responsibility of strengthening the Gunderu stream embankment with the help of farmers, if the government did not come forward to do so.
He lamented that crops in hundreds of acres were damaged due to breach of Gunduru stream bund and the farmers had to bear the brunt. He alleged that though crops in hundreds of acres were damaged due to breach of bund, the agriculture department officials have not visited the place so far and not taken steps to plug the breach.
Buddha Prasad said that he would try to unite the farmers to plug the breach and strengthen the embankment. TDP district vice president Mandali Venkatram, Mandal president Tummala Chowdary Babu, MPTC Tadikonda Venkateswara Rao and Acchepalem sarpanch Gajula Naga Srinivasa Rao and Ghantasala vice sarpanch Ainapudi Bhanuprakash were among those who were present.
