Buffaloes distributed to farmers

NTR District Collector Dr S Dilli Rao has said that to employ the farmers and Self Help Groups (SHG) members, the State government is distributing buffaloes to enhance their financial cushion. SHG women and farmers are getting the buffaloes under the YSR Asara and Cheyutha schemes, he said.

Collector Dilli Rao distributed the buffaloes to SHG women and farmers with the support of the NTR District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) at the Agricultural Market Yard at Kankipadu in Krishna district on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dilli Rao said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was implementing several schemes for the benefit of farmers and SHG members. The main motive of the State government was to strengthen the farmers and SHG members. The state government is taking steps that the farmers from getting debts from money lenders for a high rate of interest, he said.

He further said that the district administration was planning to distribute around 4,000 buffaloes to the beneficiaries. About 2,000 buffaloes would be distributed by the end of January and as part of that DRDA has distributed buffaloes to the beneficiaries of Gampalagudem, Reddigudem, Veerullapadu, and G Konduru mandals, he said.

The remaining 2,000 buffaloes would be distributed by the end of February, he added. Later, he suggested the farmers get high prices by selling their milk at the Amul milk collection centres.

DRDA PD K Srinivas, Animal Husbandry Joint Director Vidyasagar and others were present.
