Builders should accord priority for fire safety: Nagi Reddy

The Telangana Fire department inspected over 3,000 buildings under construction during the last three months. There are total 6,000 buildings under construction. Of these, 86 were issued notices for lacking fire safety measures.
 Director General of Fire Safety Y Nagi Reddy emphasised the importance of equipping every high-rise building with fire safety measures such as water sprinklers, smoke detectors, and water pumps. The need to follow the directions of the Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Services department’s Fire Service Week 2024 is stressed.
Nagi Reddy stressed the necessity of maintaining fire systems in every high-rise building. Fire drills and demonstrations were conducted at Sattva Knowledge City on Saturday
The Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department conducted various fire safety awareness programmes throughout Fire Service Week 2024. From April 14 to April 20, they organised events to educate the public about fire safety and its significance.
At the closing ceremony of Fire Service Week 2024, Director General Nagi Reddy, said, “for now approximately 29 fire stations in the city are effectively handling fire control situations where new fire engines and equipment are soon to be delivered. Plans for further expansion of fire stations, including land allotment in Warangal are underway”.
