Burglars kill elderly woman, decamp with booty

Unidentified miscreants brutally murdered an elderly woman and decamped with gold jewellery and other valuables at the Hanumannagar area in Singarayakonda town on the night of Thursday.

Police said that when the woman was watching TV, the robbers intruded into her house from the backside and strangled her. The police said that it was murder for gain. CI D Ranganath, SIs Fhoroz Fhathima, Khadar Basha, and Venkateswarulu visited the scene of the offence and collected clues.

A clues team led by Ongole CCS additional SP Sudhir Babu searched the area for clues and sniffer dogs were pressed for clues. The dogs went towards Swamy Ayyappa temple and stopped at the railway gate. Special teams were formed to arrest the culprits. The murder of the woman by robbers sent panic waves in the colony.
