Reaffirming the party’s commitment to value-based politics, former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said the victory of YSRCP in the recent by-polls to local bodies is a slap on the face of the TDP, which tried to usurp post despite lacking the required numbers.
Addressing the newly elected leaders of local bodies here on Wednesday, Jagan Mohan Reddy said the party is proud of those who ‘braved the deceptive politics of Chandrababu Naidu’. “The CM tried to win seats where his party had no numbers and relied on coercion, force, manipulative practices and misuse of official machinery to win a few seats,” Jagan alleged.
“We have won 39 of the 50 seats for which by-elections were held, which shows our strong resolve and people’s faith in us.
“If ethics and morals are to be followed, Chandrababu Naidu must have kept away from the polls. But his arrogance stemming out of power made him field candidates and the results are before us, and we won a big majority of the total seats.
“We have seen the irregularities in Tirupati municipal elections. In Visakhapatnam, our cadre stood firm and guarded our corporator. The police threatened the wife of our corporator. In Ramagiri, YSRCP has nine of the 10 MPTCs, but they played foul to ensure that elections could not be held there. They also went to the extent of murdering BC leader Lingaiah.
“If the State resorts to such aggression, what sort of governance can we expect,” Jagan questioned.
“In Chandrababu’s own constituency, we swept all the 16 MPTCs. They restricted movement of our leaders and declared themselves as winners on their own.
“In these elections, women stood firm and I am proud of them and the resolve of the cadre will be remembered for as long as you stood with Jagan in difficult times. In the coming days, we will be getting a landslide victory and the party will stand by the cadre. Jagan 2.0 would be very different,” he said.
“The cheating game of Chandrababu Naidu is reaching new peaks. P4 is the latest one. This is a sort of unreasonable outsourcing. He may not be even aware of the number of white ration cards the State has. To brush up the data for Chandrababu Naidu, 1.48 of the total 1.61 crore families hold white cards as they are below poverty line (BPL). The State has 8.6 lakh Income Tax assesses which means according to P4 theory of Chandrababu Naidu, 8.6 lakh people should take care of the 1.48 crore families.
“With such an unrealistic approach, people are vexed with Chandrababu Naidu and are evading him. They are now waiting for a leader who stands by his word and the governance that takes care of them,” the YSRCP chief said.
