Union Minister of State for Education Subhash Sarkar has said that in accordance with the standard examination process, candidates’ responses along with provisional answer keys are uploaded on the official website for all candidates to challenge the answer keys.
In the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, the Minister replied in writing to the question of YSRCP member V Vijayasai Reddy and said all challenges were settled by subject experts at the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the result was prepared and published on the basis of the final answer keys as settled by the subject experts.
The Union Minister said the total number of question papers used in the exam for 61 subjects were 2,305 and the number of questions were 1,48,520. Out of the 1,48,520 provisional answer keys, 3,886 were challenged. Out of these, 570 provisional answer keys were revised as settled by subject experts. The process of arriving at final answer keys is robust and elaborate, involving due consideration of the received challenges to the provisional answer key by the respective subject experts.
The Union Minister said that candidates had been given an opportunity to challenge the provisional answer key by paying a non-refundable fee of Rs 200 per question under processing charges as announced in advance in the information bulletin and also as per the public notice announced on the official website.
The minister said that the processing fee is being collected from the candidates to cover the cost of solving the challenged answer keys by the relevant subject experts.
