Central team briefed on rain havoc in Bhupalapally, Mulugu districts

District Collector Bhavesh Misra on Wednesday made a PowerPoint presentation on the havoc caused by torrential rains in the worst flood-hit Morchapally village to the visiting Central Team of officials who visited the village to assess the damage.

Bhavesh Misra told officials that loss was enumerated in the village within the framework of the rules.

The PowerPoint presentation highlighted the loss caused to crops, houses, and roads due to the incessant rains.

On a single night, Chityala, Regonda and Ganapuram mandals received very heavy rains measuring up to 600 cm triggering severe floods in the Bhupalapalli district.

In all, 32 villages in six mandals had been worst affected in the district due to rains. In Moranchapalli village, almost every house suffered damage.

Standing crops of paddy were damaged in 15,690 acres, cotton in 15,381 acres, chilli crop in 2,500 acres and other crops in 264 acres were damaged.

Leader of the central team visitor and NDMA Joint Secretary Kunal Satyardhi asked the district officials to submit a foolproof report on flood damage, prepared as per the rules.

Members of the central team of observers, Finance Deputy Secretary Anil Gairola, NH Regional Officer SK Kushwa, Ministry of Jalasakti director Ramesh Kumar, Union Agricultural Joint Secretary Punuswamy, NRSC director J Srinivasulu, power department representative Bhavya Pandey, district officials and others were present.

The Central Team visited the areas affected by heavy rains and floods on Wednesday.On this occasion, the special officer in-charge of the district YS Krishna Aditya, District Collector explained this to Tripathi. Later, in a meeting held at the Collectorate’s office, the details of the damage and loss due to floods were explained to the central team through a video PowerPoint presentation.

The details of the rains and crop damage in the district from July 18 to 28 have been given. It was explained that 54 villages and 27 low-lying areas were seriously damaged due to floods. He said that 17 people lost their lives due to floods.

642 animals are said to have died. The collector explained the details of damaged tanks, canals, bridges, roads, collapsed houses and power poles to the central team members.

He said that 49 rehabilitation centres have been set up in the district and 5,861 people have been sheltered. He said that NDRF rescue teams have worked. In this meeting, SP Gaus Alam, DFO Rahul Kishan Jadev, RDO K. Satyapal Reddy, District Officers, Collectorate AO, and EDM Devender participated.
