Centre lauds reforms in AP’s education sector

The officials of the School Education Department have informed that the various programmes, reforms, and efforts were undertaken by the Andhra Pradesh government for the development of Education and have been appreciated by the officials of the Central Ministry of Education.

A review meeting was held on Wednesday late evening by the Project Approval Board (PAB) under the chairmanship of Central Ministry of Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar regarding the Annual Work Plan (AWP&B) and discussed the allocation of required funds for the next academic year 2023-24. For this meeting our state was represented by Praveen Prakash, Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Andhra Pradesh, S Suresh Kumar, Commissioner for School Education and State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, School Education Department, Andhra Pradesh, officials of SCERT, Officials of Samagra Shiksha also participated in the meeting.

On this occasion, Principal Secretary Praveen Prakash explained the state’s flagship programmes such as creating infrastructure for schools, distribution of uniforms, textbooks to students, bilingual textbooks, and distribution of tabs as a part of the digital education system under Samagra Shiksha innovations. The higher officials of the Ministry of Education, and Central Government appreciated the efforts of Samagra Shiksha and the AP Government for the huge allocation of funds to school education.

He praised that Andhra Pradesh is best when compared to the other states in the implementation of AmmaVodi, Vidyakanuka, Toilet Maintenance Fund, School Maintenance Fund, Mid-Day Meal Scheme, etc. the programs undertaken by the state government. He said that Andhra Pradesh is ideal for other states.

As a part of annual fund allocation, Rs 2626.52 crore of funds has been approved for the last academic year, out of which the state government has been able to spend 95% of the released budget. He said that the expenditure was more than 35%when compared to the last four years.

It is stated that the grant of an additional 10% of funds (about Rs 2888 crores) for the academic year 2023-24 has been approved in principle. On this occasion, the Education Department, Andhra Pradesh thanked the Central Ministry of Education and expressed joy.
