Centre okays surveys for 15 new railway projects

Minister of Tourism and Culture G Kishan Reddy has organised a press meet regarding the approval of the Union Government on the Final Location Survey (FLS) for 15 new railway projects on Sunday.

The Minister stated that Telangana is the state with the least railway network in the plains, except for the north-eastern states and the Himalayan states. The Centre is giving a lot of attention to the infrastructure related to roads in Telangana and allocating funds to develop the railway system. Recently, the Railways has approved the modernisation of 40 railway stations in Telangana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for the modernisation of 21 stations in virtual mode.

He also said that the Centre has released Rs 2,300 crore for the modernisation and development of these 40 stations. At least Rs 715 crore has been allocated for the development of Secunderabad station while Rs 421 crore has been allotted for the development of Kachiguda railway station. In all, Rs 221 crore has been released for the development of Charlapally Terminal. Moreover, the Prime Minister has launched several projects as part of MMTS-Phase 2 and laid the foundation stone for the Railway Wagon Manufacturing unit in Warangal.

The Minister said that the Union Government has approved the Final Location Survey (FLS) for around 15 new projects. Apart from this, eight doubling lines, three tripling lines and four quadrupling lines have been flagged off. Funds have been sanctioned for the final location survey for all these projects. In this final location survey, 15 new projects and 15 additional line projects will be undertaken, totaling 30 projects. The total value of this package is Rs 83,543 crore.

Further, Minister Kishan Reddy said that among the FLS-sanctioned projects related to Telangana, the first one will fulfill the aspirations of the people of joint Adilabad and Nizamabad districts. This train route will reach Patancheru via Adilabad, Ichoda, Neradigonda, Nirmal, Balkonda, Armour, Bodhan, Bansuwada, Nizampet and Sangareddy. It also connects North Telangana with Hyderabad, Mumbai, and the national capital Delhi via Nagpur. Through this project, farmers will be able to move agricultural products to the market along with economic development in the region.
The total length of this project is 317 km while the estimated cost is Rs 5,706 crore.
