Children in a school in the district are made to pick up brooms to clean their classrooms. But the school authorities have denied that they have forced the children to spruce up the classrooms.
Schoolchildren at Devanpalle village were seen sweeping the classrooms on Sunday. The children, when asked, did not reply. But, a woman appeared suddenly and tried to brush off the entire issue by saying that the children voluntarily took up the task of cleaning their classroom. When asked whether the sweeper in the school was not paid for sprucing up the school premises, there was no answer.
The school authorities tried to make it appear that the children voluntarily took the task and none forced them to clean their classrooms.
The children were seen sprucing up their classroom 15 minutes before their classes began at 9.30 am. It may be recalled here that the State government appointed temporary workers in all schools for cleaning and sprucing up school promise every day.
