Chiranjeevi’s classic re-release in 3D falls short of expectations

Must read

As Tollywood continues its trend of re-releasing classics, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, starring Chiranjeevi and Sridevi, was brought back to theaters by producer Ashwini Dutt. Despite aggressive promotions by Chiranjeevi, director Raghavendra Rao and Dutt, the re-release didn’t make a strong impact. Although some shows saw good occupancy on the first day, overall response paled in comparison to recent re-releases like Murari, Okkadu, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and Orange.

Critics and audiences pointed out that converting the film into 3D was a misstep. “Many scenes appeared blurry due to technical issues,” said a viewer. Though the songs once ruled the charts 35 years ago, the film failed to connect with younger audiences. Apart from die-hard Mega fans, turnout was low, making the re-release underwhelming.
