City boy to represent AP in SGFI national chess event

City boy Saragada Ashok Kumar, a student of SKPVV Hindu High School at Kothapet in Vijayawada, has been selected for the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) National Tournament. He participated in the SGFI Under – 19 Inter-district Chess Tournament held at Attili in West Godavari from December 21 to 22 and secured second place.

Ashok Kumar represented the Krishna district Under-19 chess team and won five points in six rounds. Based on his performance, the selection committee selected him for the Andhra Pradesh Chess team. He will be representing the Andhra Pradesh team in the SGFI Chess Championship which will be conducted in New Delhi next month.

In this connection, SKPVV Hindu High School secretary KLV Mohana Rao, headmaster K Srinivasa Rao, Physical Education Teachers MVS Prasad, and S Lakshmi felicitated Ashok Kumar at a function held on the school premises on Friday.
