The State government is set to enhance educational standards in government schools by encouraging parental cooperation and participation. To achieve this, a Mega Parent Teacher Meeting (Mega PTM) will be organised across all 45,094 schools on December 7, according to Kona Sasidhar, the Principal Secretary of the Education Department. He said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Minister for Human Resources and IT Nara Lokesh will participate in the Mega PTM at the Bapatla Municipal High School.
While addressing a press conference at the Publicity Cell at the Secretariat at Velagapudi, on Wednesday, Kona Sasidhar urged the alumni, parents, and prominent people who studied in the Bapatla Municipal School besides people’s representatives and School Management Committee to attend the Mega PTM. Following the directions from CM Naidu, the Mega PTM is conducted to attract government schools rather than private ones, he said.
Further, he said that to improve infrastructure facilities and educational standards in all government and aided schools in a bigger way, the government proposed to conduct the Mega PTM. Based on the educational standards, the government would give a star rating to each school and for that, the programme would be conducted on an innovative model, he added. Firstly, implement the 0-5 star rating in all schools and later, take the appropriate steps to improve the star ratings every year, he explained. The ultimate aim is to reach every school to a 5-star rating, he said.
Disclosing the details to the media, Sasidhar said that more than 35,84,621 students, 71,60,000 parents, 1,88,266 teachers and around 50,000 people’s representatives are to be participating in the Mega Parent Teacher Meeting. Besides the CM and HRD Minister, many ministers, MPs, MLCs, MLAs, Mayors, Municipal Chairpersons, ZP Chairpersons, MPPs, ZPTC, MPTC members, Sarpanch and other ward members would take part in these meetings, he added.
Meanwhile, he said all parents are invited to the event by special invitation cards that are creatively prepared by their children. He made it clear that they are planning to conduct these Mega PTMs in a pleasant atmosphere by avoiding political involvement. During the meetings, elaborate discussions are being conducted with the parents for the overall development of their children, he said. On the other hand, he announced that the government would introduce the Holistic Progress Cards in place of the current progress cards.
School Education Department Director V Vijaya Rama Raju and Sarva Siksha Abhiyan State Project Director B Srinivasa Rao attended the press conference.
