An unemployed youngster who rose to fame as Barrelakka (K Sirisha) from Telangana has caught the attention of none other than Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
She gained the attention of the media and political observers across the country by contesting as an independent candidate from the Kollapur assembly constituency in the recently concluded TelanganaAssembly elections.
She was referred to by the AP CM Jagan during a public meeting while targeting the political rival – Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan.
Addressing the gathering at a meeting in Palasa, the Chief Minister made fun of Pawan Kalyan stating that Barrelakka from Telangana fared much better than the popular actor when it comes to politics.
He slammed TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu for consistently orchestrating election dramas alongside Pawan Kalyan.
Barrelakka, who contested from the Kollapur Assembly constituency, secured 5754 votes and stood fourth. Jana Sena party lost deposits in all 8 constituencies it contested in Telangana – Khammam, Kothgudem, Wyra, Aswaraopeta, Kukatpally, Tandur, Kodad, and Nagarkurnool constituencies.
Only in Kukatpally, did the Jana Sena make some impact; its candidate M Prem Kumar got 39,830 votes. In Ashwaraopet, Umadevi stood fourth with 2,281 votes.
So, in the coming days, Barrelakka will become more popular in Andhra as well, as Jagan will definitely use her name to take potshots at Pawan!
